Ardagh’s Leeuwarden plant re-equipped to meet growing demand for nutrition sector

23 March 2015

This month Ardagh celebrated the reopening of its production facility in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. The global packaging company has invested heavily to upgrade the facility for the nutrition industry. The new plant was officially opened in a special ceremony in the presence of Henk Deinum, Alderman for Economic and Regional Development Leeuwarden and the town's Deputy Mayor.

Following growth in demand for baby nutrition products in China, the Middle East and Latin America, as well as the extended capacities of its clients, Ardagh recently rededicated the manufacturing facility in Leeuwarden for this sector.

Ewoud Vriens, Commercial Director of Ardagh's Nutrition sector explains: "The upgrade of our Leeuwarden facility means that we now have added capacity to supply quality metal packaging to our nutrition customers from several European manufacturing sites. Leeuwarden also produces the packaging of Nestlé's innovative 'Scoop Out'."

"As Alderman for Economic Development, I am extremely proud of Ardagh Leeuwarden", says Henk Deinum. "I congratulate Ardagh and Leeuwarden therefore wholeheartedly with this modern manufacturing site, realised thanks to the highly professional and dedicated staff of Ardagh. I wish you every success for the future."
