Atlas Packaging Open New Logistics Unit

26 October 2016

We are expanding even more by opening the doors to a purpose built 20,000sq.ft warehouse later this month.

Our new state-of-the-art logistics unit will provide the ability to store up to 3600 pallets in purpose built racking that provides the ideal storage environment. The unit will also aid distribution and material handling, helping with efficiency.

The new warehouse based in Barnstaple will support the continued growth of the company which includes partnerships with major retailers such as Waitrose, Asda, B&Q and Harrods as well as renowned brands such as Interflora, Baileys, Johnny Walker, Pall Group, Barbers Cheese, Forrero Rocher, Kinder and many more.

We have worked with Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) supplier Jungheinrich to deliver optimum racking and forklift truck solutions, ensuring we continue to provide the most advanced technological solution in North Devon and the wider South West.

The logistics init will not only benefit our continuous growth, but also provide the following benefits:

• A secure and clean environment for product storage.
• A very narrow aisle racking solution that maximises the use of the space available.
• Latest technology Combination Map up Fork Lift Trucks (FLT) that are fitted for full warehouse management, but already provide a semi-automatic picking function which increases machine efficiently by 20% over manual systems.
• A First In/First Out (FIFO) system which ensures that stock rotation is maintained and only the latest batch is stored within the warehouse.
• All of the pallet storage is now centrally stored on one site.

Jason Sharman, our Managing Director said, “We are extremely excited to unveil our new logistics unit as this will increase storage requirements and greatly aid our material handling efficiently, which will ensure a quicker and more efficient process for our customers.

“This is an extremely exciting milestone for the development of Atlas Packaging and I am very excited for it to be in use, expanding the potential of the company even further. This makes the possibilities endless.”

There will be an open day for local businesses to attend so be sure to keep an eye out; this will provide an exclusive tour of our new storage and facilities. This will inevitably lead too many more exciting collaborations and we are all very excited for the future of our business.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Atlas Packaging - we couldn't do it without you.
