DS Smith has expanded its corrugated packaging operations in the UK. The company acquired TRM Packaging.

DS Smith has announced the acquisition of UK firm TRM Packaging (TRM) with effect from 24 March. TRM is a producer of specialist corrugated packaging and retail packaging. The company, located in the North West of England, employs about 270 people and says it has a turnover of £38m.

DS Smith says the business is complementary to the company both geographically and in its focus on FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) customers.

DS Smith's latest acquisition in the sector dates back to late December last year when it announced it would take over Turkish company Dasamilas Ambalaj. Milas is a manufacturer of corrugated packaging products with a workforce of 240 and a turnover of around $25m. The transaction is yet to finalise.
