Germany-based Dürr Systems has acquired CleanAir division from KBA-MetalPrint, as part of an asset deal.

KBA-CleanAir is the energy and environmental technology division of KBA-MetalPrint, which supplies efficient systems for the purification of solvent-laden and strong-smelling exhaust air.

The division’s products are used in the metal packaging branch, in addition to the general print industry, dye and paint manufacturing, surface treatment and the chemicals industry.

The business manufactures thermal exhaust air purification systems under KBA-CleanAir.

KBA-MetalPrint, which is a system supplier to the metal packaging industry, provides complete production lines for the printing, coating and drying of tinplate and aluminium sheets.

The frim’s product portfolio is comprised of multicolour printing presses and coating machines in combination with thermal drying ovens or UV curing systems.

KBA-MetalPrint managing director Ralf Gumbel said: “When you look at the vast exhaust air purification market, we are represented only in the segment of thermal systems.

“For long-term success in this market, however, a broader portfolio, a global presence and a much greater scale of business are imperative.”

KBA-MetalPrint another managing director Ralf Schechowiz said: “With the decision to transfer our CleanAir division to Dürr, we deliberately chose a renowned technology group with roots in the region, as this promised our loyal and experienced employees an attractive work environment with good future prospects within a short distance of their current workplace.”
