Graham Packaging Co. closing Baltimore Facility

Graham Packaging Co. plans to close a manufacturing plant in Baltimore and lay off 79 workers there by June 17, the company said Monday in a notice filed with Maryland's labor department.

Eighteen workers at the company's facility at 210 Kane St. in Baltimore will be laid off April 1- 13, the company told the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Another 61 workers will lose their jobs June 3-17.

Springettsbury Township-based Graham Packaging Co. makes plastic containers for a wide variety of industries, including the food and beverage and healthcare industries.

Officials at the company could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
