Mexico’s packaging group Grupo Gondi has awarded a contract to Koenig & Bauer (KBA) to supply KBA Rapida 164 (sheet size 1,205x1,640/47.2 x 64.5in).

The contract comes on heels of the previously awarded contract for the supply of large-format KBA Rapida 145 (sheet size 1,060 x 1,450mm /41.7 x 57in) for Grupo'sGuadalajara plant.

Under the latest contract, KBA will supply the two Raapidapresses, each featuring eight printing units and two coating and two drying units.

Till date, Grupo Gondi ordered an eight-color, twin-coater Rapida 145 and Rapida 164 from KBA-Sheetfed.

KBA Latina CEO Stefan Deuster said: "With these investments Grupo Gondi will be able to maximize its productivity and quality on the highest technology level worldwide."

The twin coater presses feature DriveTronic SPC for simultaneous plate changing, CleanTronic Synchro simultaneous washing systems, inline quality measurement and control with KBA QualiTronic Color Control and a high-speed package for maximum productivity for large print runs.

Additionally features of the Rapida 145 include hybrid technology for the use of conventional as well as UV ink enhancing flexibility regarding non-absorbent substrates and unique finishing effects.
