Klöckner Pentaplast unveils Pentapharm LiquiGuard blister films

7 November 2016

Klöckner Pentaplast has introduced LiquiGuard, expanding its Pentapharm line of pharmaceutical blister films.

The Pentapharm LiquiGuard is designed to allow hot- and cold-fill liquids and semi-solids to be packaged directly in a crystal-clear, thermostable laminate film.

This protects sensitive products from package leaching and moisture gain or loss, the company said.

The new blister films can be used for a wide range of applications including chewables, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, formulations sensitive to flavor or odor loss, unit dose liquids and veterinary packaging.

Klöckner Pentaplast global market development, pharmaceutical packaging director Daniel Stagnaro said: “Pentapharm LiquiGuard provides an advanced option for single unit dose packaging of medications in any dosage form that require resistance to extreme temperatures up to 120°C during processing, while offering all the benefits of a clear, thermoformable blister film with a customizable moisture barrier.”

The new films also offer benefits across applications including autoclavable for sterile applications and customizable high moisture barrier.

In addition to providing high heat stability, low leachability and extractability, the films provide one-stage forming and packaging of hot-fill products and visual clarity for enhanced shelf appeal.

It also provides deep-draw properties for complex blister geometries, and high slip for quick release and increased productivity.

Klöckner Pentaplast provides rigid plastic film solutions for primary packaging of pharmaceuticals, food, electronics, medical devices and consumer, as well as printing and specialty applications.
