6 September 2016

India based firm Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has introduced a new range of packaging for its syrup bottles and blister in order to make them patient-friendly.

The company, in partnership with California-based design and consulting firm IDEO, has redesigned its blister packs and syrup bottles for five of its brands in the Indian market.

The pharmaceutical company plans to roll-out the new packaging design for its 25 brands over the next six months in phased manner.

Dr. Reddy’s said that it has identified medicine packaging as an underserved area to innovate, adding that it was traditionally designed only to meet technical and regulatory requirements.

Launched as the first major initiative under Purple Health, the new range of patient-centric packaging is expected to enhance the therapy experience for over 20 million patients annually.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories executive vice president and head branded markets for India & Emerging countries Ramana said: “Dr. Reddy’s is committed to addressing unmet patient needs through patient-centric innovation and we are very excited to introduce our new packaging for patients in India.

“We continue to make significant efforts to provide care beyond the pill and see Purple Health as our belief put into practice.”

The Purple Health is a unique platform designed to inspire patient-centric innovation and deliver solutions.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories provides products and services including APIs, custom pharmaceutical services, generics, biosimilars and differentiated formulations.
