Switzerland-based PET products developer Sidel has launched a range of new packaging services to beverage manufacturers.

The services include package and preform design, packaging optimization, liquid-package interaction analysis and packaging qualification.

Sidel vice-president for packaging Vincent Le Guen said: "Studies in purchasing behavior suggest that it takes a consumer just three to seven seconds to choose one beverage over another. A well-designed, attractive and engaging package can help brands win this 'moment of truth'."

The company will assist manufacturers in producing art and technical designs, preform designs, pilot moulds and prototypes.

Under packaging optimization, Sidel helps in optimising designs to use less PET and other resources, and reduce energy consumption during production.

The company's scientists will do liquid-package interaction analysis through laboratory tests under simulated supply chain conditions. The analysis will ensure in avoiding damage to bottles due to exposure to light, oxygen or the wrong temperatures.

Sidel has two laboratories for liquid-packaging and aseptic analysis in Octeville, France, and two for filling and aseptic microbiological contamination analysis in Parma, Italy.

In the final stage of its services, Sidel suggests and offers packaging equipment that suits the manufacturer's requirements.
