Interpack China 2026
PRESS RELEASE

A smarter approach to coding & marking

Default Image

At interpack 2026, LEIBINGER will present a smarter approach to coding and marking, rooted in rethinking established CIJ conventions and supported by long-term development investment. In practice, LEIBINGER CIJ technology enables reliable in-line printing across a wide range of substrates, delivering consistently strong results in day-to-day production with easy-to-use plug-and-print solutions – whether in food & beverage, cosmetics, or pharma.

One topic shaping the packaging industry is the transition from 1D barcodes to GS1 2D codes as part of the 2D migration (GS1 Sunrise 2027). Printing reliable, scannable codes on diverse materials remains a key challenge – especially in view of future requirements such as the digital product passport (DPP). Data-rich 2D codes with variable content must be printed directly on the production line, increasing demands on print precision, contrast, and process stability. Even minor factors such as substrate reflection, surface texture, or ink adhesion can influence scan results. LEIBINGER supports customers with strong application expertise, ensuring reliable readability and efficient integration with minimal impact on existing lines.

The reliable foundation of all LEIBINGER printers lies not only in the unique automatic nozzle seal, but also in intelligent hydraulic and ink management, where ink is kept continuously circulating in a closed loop. A unique dual-chamber pressure tank system maintains stable viscosity, constant pressure and long component lifetime. A prime example is the IQJET, which can operate for up to five years without maintenance. In contrast, many conventional printers still rely on gear pumps that are prone to wear, leading to frequent and costly replacement of parts.

LEIBINGER also uses a carefully engineered approach in the ink tank: an automated agitator keeps the ink moving – especially relevant for pigmented inks – to reduce sedimentation and deposits and maintain stable ink properties. This supports consistently high contrast of the codes over the long term.

These technological features deliver clear customer benefits: resource efficiency and sustainability, long-lasting systems, fewer interventions, less downtime, and processes that remain stable over time. Taken together, this helps deliver one of the lowest total costs of ownership on the market.

Another key success factor is the ink itself: with around 70 available ink solutions, LEIBINGER offers a broad portfolio for a wide range of applications and materials. Reliable marking is always the result of the interaction between printer and ink – optimally matched to the substrate, line speed, and production environment (moisture, dust, heat, cold).

At the LEIBINGER booth, visitors will also experience how modern coding and marking solutions integrate seamlessly into digital production environments: they can test the new LEIBINGER PrintDesigner live, create print jobs via mobile devices, and use them directly to print a personalized giveaway. LEIBINGER demonstrates how this is integrated into a digital platform that provides a real-time overview of the printer fleet – offering a hands-on look at modern, digital coding and marking workflows.
