Berlin Packaging expands Saint Louis distribution center with move to Hazelwood
24 November 2017
Berlin Packaging, the leading full-service supplier of plastic, glass, and metal containers and closures, has expanded its Saint Louis-area warehousing and inventory management capacity with its move to a new 62,000-square-foot Food Grade, cGMP and AIB compliant warehouse in Hazelwood, Missouri.
Joining more than 100+ other Berlin Packaging locations throughout North America and Europe, the new facility is 25% larger than Berlin's prior Earth City location and can hold 50% more packaging inventory for just-in-time delivery to customers and filling locations.
The increased storage capacity at the just-built facility stems from both the larger footprint and a taller ceiling height. The site, which has additional dock doors to accommodate deliveries and shipments, offers easy highway access near the I-70/I-270 interchange to serve the branch's customers in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and throughout the Midwest.
"Our Earth City location was 10 years old and saw a doubling of inventory volume in the last two years alone, with tremendous growth coming from existing as well as new customers," said Tim Fetsch, Regional Operations Manager. "We have been planning our move to Hazelwood since January and, with the larger space and newer amenities, the new location enables us to keep pace with our growth and bring beneficial inventory management services to more customers."
Now with more than 160 consecutive months of 99+% on-time product delivery, the company's inventory management programs help customers avoid the costs of packaging stock-outs, reduce in-house storage requirements, improve cash flow, and keep supply chains running smoothly. Customers also have the option to have packaging drop-shipped directly from the factory to their preferred destinations.
The new distribution center opened November 1, 2017, and is located at 401 Hazelwood Logistics Center Drive, Suite 100, Hazelwood, MO 63042.
