Crown Exports Company has begun implementation of a sorting and packaging plant for fruits and vegetables through investments worth EGP 8-10m. It is intended to expand the company’s export capacity and reach markets  requiring a specific standard of quality for the products that enter their countries.

Member of the Board of Directors Bassem El-Gergawy said this plant will help preserve crops in a manner that lengthens their lifespan. The initiative will increase the company’s grape exports specifically from 900 to 1,000 tonnes by May 2016.

Crown Exports will participate in the Fruit Logistica exhibition for the first time in Germany in February.

El-Gergawy said the exhibition allows exporters to increase their exports and open new markets in Germany in particular and Europe in general to compensate for Egypt’s recent loss of Arab markets. The company will participate in the exhibition with its grapes, dried onions, and bean products.

The company’s exports are worth between EGP 10-15 million per year but did not specify the value of export contracts the company intends to sign during the Fruit Logistical Exhibition as it is the first time they will participate.

The company exports to England, the Netherlands, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and various African countries.
