Enrich receives American Packaging Design Award for A Nutritional Snack Line that Helps Diabetics

3 March 2015

Enrich’s new packaging design for Extend Nutrition has been selected as a winner in the 2015 American Packaging Design Awards from Graphic Design USA. A longstanding competition in the packaging design industry, this annual event celebrates “well designed graphics, but more importantly, the power of design to advance the brand promise and forge an emotional connection with the buyer at the moment of truth.”

Enrich worked closely with St. Louis-based Extend Nutrition, who sought to expand their consumer reach in a highly competitive retail landscape. The company wanted to more effectively communicate the product’s unique benefits and to introduce two new bar flavors that feature their proprietary Nutra9 blend. Very effective for diabetics, this patented, doctor-developed formulation has been clinically proven to stabilize blood sugar for up to 9 hours and is highly respected in both the scientific and medical communities.

After extensive research and analysis, Enrich refreshed the logo and created a new look for the full line of nutritional snacks, including bars, crisps and shakes. Clear, impactful design and appealing product photography highlight the delicious flavors throughout the 31-SKU line.

A vibrant color system allows the products to stand out on the shelf, while visually setting them apart from the competition.

“I just completed a 4-week retailer tour introducing our new package design to major drug, mass and grocery retailers,” said Kevin Dalrymple, President of Clinical Products, LLC. “The goal was to improve our consumer messaging and instant shelf appeal – and it looks like we have done just that. The category managers were blown away by the improvement and several went, as far as to state it was the best packaging they have seen for their category. Thank you, Enrich.”

“The Enrich team wanted to ensure that the brand wouldn’t lose recognizability with loyal customers, would attract a new customer base, as well as compete with other new products in this category,” said Gretchen Schisla, Principal of Enrich Creative. “Receiving an award for this design validates the team’s creativity and hard work. We are proud to support a trusted and effective product line and look forward to participating in the continued success of Extend Nutrition.”

The new packaging look debuted through the Extend website in 2014 and will appear on retail store shelves in 2015.
