Faulty packaging is reason for voluntarily recall of select Gerber products

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently announced that Gerber is voluntarily recalling two batches of its Gerber Organic 2nd Foods Pouches due to a defect in packaging which could result in spoilage. In some cases consumers may notice the pouches are bloated and has an off-taste or odor.

The products have been distributed nationwide and there have been three reports of temporary gastrointestinal symptoms. None of the illnesses have been confirmed to be related to the product.

The pouches being recalled are the 3.5 ounce Gerber Organic 2nd Foods Pouches of pears, carrots and peas with UPC 15000074319 with best by dates of July 12, 2016 (51945335XX batch code) and July 13, 2016 (51955335XX batch code) and the 3.5 ounce Gerber Organic 2nd Foods Pouches of carrots, apples and mangoes with UPC 15000074395 with best by dates of July 13, 2016 (51955335XX batch code) and July 14, 2016 (51965335XX batch code). No other Gerber products are impacted by this recall.

Replacement coupons are being offered to consumers by calling the Gerber Parents Resource Center at 1-800-706-0556
