Malawi based Flexible Packaging Industries installs Edale press for packaging

11 February 2015

Malawi based Flexible Packaging Industries have installed a six colour FL-3 press from UK manufacturers, Edale. The 350mm wide high specification machine has features including twin rewind, IR heaters, full rail system as well as a specialised vacuum delivery system for paper label and film production.

As one of the biggest print production companies in Malawi serving the majority of the country, the company needed a machine which could be flexible across a number of applications and substrate ranges in particular self-adhesive labels, wrap around and wet glue labels through to flexible and filmic packaging and even light carton.

Flexible Packaging Industries are a well-established family owned, and run, business in operation for over 25 years and through this time have had many experiences with different flexo machines, they approached Edale in late 2012 to discuss their requirements and when satisfied that Edale could provide a machine to match their capabilities and specific requests they agreed the deal.

Faizal Khamboo, Director, says “Edale were recommended to us by an industry supplier who could not meet the needs of our request. Edale being a British manufacturer was a huge bonus to us as we knew we could rely on high quality standards, both in service and engineering design”, he continues “The print head design was what initially impressed me about the machine, as well as being very operator friendly. Having the machine now installed, the build quality of the press is excellent, and even better than we had expected!”

Chris Chappel, Edale’s Sales Manager who managed the sale commented “Our focus at Edale is on the design and engineering of products that are more efficient than current methods or equivalent technologies – in this instance, we were thrilled to be able to meet the requirements of Flexible Packaging Industries and look forward to working with, and supporting them, with their long term growth plans”.

Being based in Chirimba, Malawi, high on Flexible Packaging Industries priority list was the assurance that they would receive service and support not just during machine installation but also aftercare support, as and when needed.  This was something that Edale could guarantee with their 24/7 support service, as standard.

Faizal Khamboo comments “We are extremely happy about the service received from Edale, not just during the sales process but the journey that has followed. The installation went exactly as planned, and though we have not experienced any problems with the machine we are reassured that if there are ever any issues, Edale will be on hand for support. We are thrilled we chose to work with Edale for this project”.
