Frimpeks to invest in new equipment to increase self-adhesive laminates production in UK

Self-adhesive laminates producer Frimpeks is planning to invest in new equipment for its Saxmundham site in the UK over the next three years.

The plans for the expansion come one year after the company launched its UK presence by opening the Saxmundham site, which manufactures or distributes self-adhesive laminates, inks and digital media.

The planned investment will see the expansion of the existing coating line to incorporate greater automation and flexibility, the company said.

Frimpeks will install a new slitter incorporating fully automated packing lines at the site in Q2 this year, in addition to extending Saxmundham site by a further 25,000ft2.

The company will also double its workforce over the next few years.

Frimpeks UK managing director Dave Casey said: "This announcement underlines Frimpeks commitment to following through on its 5 year plan.

"The site expansion and new plant will increase capacity and follows a similar investment at our sister plant in RemscheidGermany. The Hot Melt coating capability will provide the flexibility and capacity our growing customer base demand and will give us a basis to continue our growth plans and serve the European market."

The additional warehousing available as part of the expansion will increase storage space tenfold.

Frimpeks UK offers a wide range of face materials including papers, polypropylene, polyethylene and vinyl, in addition to liners including glassines, Krafts, PP's and PET's.Ticket and tag laminates.

The company currently has operations across the UK, Germany, the US, Russia, Slovenia and Turkey.
