Germany’s Pott’s Brewery invests in Krones’ Linatronic empty-bottle inspector

Beer maker and contract bottler Pott’s Brewery has invested in a new Linatronic empty-bottle inspector from Krones, a German packaging and bottling machine manufacturer, in a bid to upgrade the quality of its products.

The new Linatronic 735 empty-bottle inspector, which is integrated with a ModulCheck rubber seal monitor, is expected to improve performance of the brewery’s 24,000-bph filling line for swing-stopper bottles.

The line is used by Pott’s Brewery for filling its own beer specialties and for contract-bottling.

Pott’s Brewery managing director Jörg Pott said: “We’re happy that Krones has dealt with the topic of rubber seal inspection in-house.

“We’re anticipating impeccable inspection routines and enhanced quality levels for our filled swing-stopper bottles – and we’re definitely sure that we’ll achieve these aims as well.”

The upstream ModulCheck is designed to validate the presence and correct color of the rubber seals on the swing-stopper bottles’ porcelain heads.

Additionally, the monitor can identify soiling, faded rubber seals, and any labels/label residues still adhering to the swing.

The ModulCheck unit features an infeed worm which allows the single-lane transport of bottles through the machine.

Additional features include a container-contour detector with camera and a pusher for rejecting non-conforming containers.

The latest model of the Linatronic 735 comprises modules including base inspection, sealing-surface inspection, side-wall inspection or lateral-neck-finish inspection.

Krones plans, develops, and manufactures machinery and complete lines for the fields of process, filling, and packaging technology.
