Japanese Mitsui acquires 15 pct of Turkish metal packaging firm

Japanese Mitsui signs deal with Sarten Ambalaj on Wednesday, acquiring 15 percent of the Turkish metal packaging firm.

“We seek to increase quality, produce faster and for lower costs, and to be competitive in the developing and globalizing world," said Sarten’s CEO Zeki Sar?bekir, speaking at the signing of the deal.

The Japanese firm has expressed that it has prioritized Turkey in its medium term management plan. In a written statement, the company expressed that Turkey and the region shows growth potential for the packaging sector.

The Sarten family will retain management control of the company.

Established in 1972 in ?stanbul, Sarten Ambalaj is a family-owned firm with production facilities in Russia, Bulgaria and Romania. The company produces metal packaging products, such as cans for food, cosmetics and industrial products.
