14 April 2015

Kolkata-based NAP Printers has opted for a first of its kind combination kit from Edale, in Eastern India. The equipment has already been installed at NAP’s premises and is expected to be up and running, soon.

The kit supplied and installed by Kolkata-based Printers Supply, Edale's distributors in India, is a flexo and carton packaging kit. The highlights are: FL 5 Carton, a folding line; FL5 Flex Pack, a label and packaging printing press and the FDC 510, a flatbed die-cutting machine.

FL5 Carton can handle substrates from 60gsm to 600gsm with 430mm to 510mm web widths at a speed close to 200m/min. The FL5 is a customised label and package printing press capable of taking web widths 430mm to 510mm with susbtrate thicknesses of 12-450 microns. The printing speed is 200m/min. The post-press kit from Edale, FDC die-cutter comes with a retro-fitting option onto an existing web-fed press or to an unwind stand for off-line conversion of conventionally or digitally pre-printed webs.

NAP is a multi-faceted very modern and progressive print firm in Kolkata, and has been serving the printing industry for six decades, now. NAP’s state-of-the-art factory is equipped with machines to cater to sheetfed offset, web-fed as well as label and packaging business. NAP is also a dominant name in the playing card and book publishing segment.

The new Edale kit is an addition to its expansion plan into the label business in 2011. NAP’s first kit was two machines from Multitec, a 10 colour flexo machine with two stations of gravure.

Printers Supply has sold presses to Uflex and Sprint Packaging. Beta at Uflex and Gamma SC at Sprint Packaging. Speaking to PrintWeek India, Amitabh Luthra of Printers Supply, said, "The Edale Gamma SC at Sprint Packaging is deployed for telecom scratch cards, it is a predecessor to FL 5. The Beta at Uflex prints holographic and PS labels."

Luthra added, "Edale offers three year warranty on all FL 3 narrow web flexo printing machines of any configuration in 350mm and 430mm width."
