Leonhard Kurz to launch DM-Liner UV Ink transfer unit at Drupa 2016

25 May 2016

Leonhard Kurz, a manufacturer of Digital Metal creative metal transfer process, is planning to showcase its new DM-Liner UV Ink transfer unit at Drupa 2016 scheduled to be held in Düsseldorf, Germany from 31 May to 10 June.

The new machine has been designed to transfer Digital Metal foil onto paper and plastic substrates using the inkjet method.

Integrating digital printing with coating- and metal-transfer process, the Digital Metal creates metalized surfaces even for small runs or individual prints.

Operators can perform the Digital Metal decoration step either before or after digital or offset color printing. This provides unique design possibilities.

The DM-Liner UV Ink features a registration system to enable the Digital Metal foil to be transferred in precise registration with the color printing.
This enables digital finishing of the preprinted mailouts, brochures, calendars, labels or packaging in the final work operation.

Digital Metal Product Manager Stefanie Schmidt said: "Both individualization and the finishing of print products are a megatrend in the graphics industry. Using our Digital Metal process, print shops can satisfy both of these trends.

"Using the new DM-Liner UV Ink, offset printers can also profit from the growing market in individualized print products, while at the same time employing a cost-effective digital technology to implement true metallic effects."

The Digital Metal technology also enables print shops to offer range of finishing options including high-gloss metallic effects in razor sharp images and a wide variety of holographic effects.

Schmidt added: "The toner-based DM-Liner and the DM-Liner UV Ink make all these finishing options available to both digital and offset printers."
