Packaging distributor Mac Papers has purchased the assets of Tennessee-based counterpart Packaging Professionals.

With this, the company has completed its second acquisition this year providing it with a larger market in Nashville.

Having entered the Nashville market in 2012, Mac Papers completed the acquisition of packaging distributor Boxes Etc in February. It is also setting up a new distribution center in the city.

Packaging Professionals specializes in polyolefin shrink film and equipment. All the employees of the firm have now joined Mac Papers.

Packaging Professionals adds materials and equipment to Mac Paper's distribution network of 22 locations and 18 retail stores throughout the southeast US.

Mac Papers chairman and CEO Sutton McGehee said: "Adding the Packaging Professionals team to our Nashville operation shows that Mac Papers is just as committed to growing our presence in Nashville as it is to reinforcing our expertise in packaging."

Mac Papers announced its plans to build a new distribution center in April. Scheduled to be opened in 2016, the center will occupy over 120,653m2 with a warehouse space of around 110,000ft2.

The company, which has acquired several distributors in the past, said that it would continue with its strategy.

"Mac Papers views the acquisition of successful packaging distributors as an opportunity for continued growth of our packaging business.

We will continue to invest in strategic acquisitions as they become available, in order to continually bolster our capabilities and customer offering," it added.
