Multivac to introduce new models of direct web printers for two thermoforming packaging machines

14 August 2018

Packaging solutions provider Multivac is set to introduce new models of direct web printers for the R 2xx and R 5xx thermoforming packaging machines.

In 2017, Multivac Marking & Inspection introduced the DP 230, the first model in a new generation of direct web printers, for incorporating into R 08x and R 1xx thermoforming packaging machines.

The company said the new models of direct web printers will be available for R 2xx and R 5xx machines from the fourth quarter of 2018.

Multivac said the new generation of direct web printers was developed to meet the latest hygiene and safety standards.

The new direct web printers feature a stainless steel and anodised aluminium construction.

Multivac also systematically avoided the dead space and chamfered all exposed edges, enabling the liquid to easily drain away during cleaning.

The advancements comprised of hygiene cylinders with stainless steel connections on the film brake, and hybrid cables for all connections to the packaging machine.

The cover plates are specifically developed for use in the food sector and are perforated for better cleaning.

Multivac’s DP 230 direct web printers are provided with solid cover plates and plexiglass windows to meet the security standards of medical and pharmaceutical sectors.

The company has installed an x-axis propulsion indexer to the DP 210 to help the printer move at right angles to the film running direction, enabling to print multiple packs in a pack row.

The DP 230 has been equipped with an x-axis and y-axis propulsion indexer to help the printer move in the film running direction, as well as to move at right angles to the film running direction.

This configuration will enable to print all the packs of a particular format. Thermal transfer and thermal inkjet printers are used as the printing technology.

Multivac is providing each version of all models for cut-off lengths up to 400mm and 900mm, making the direct web printers suitable for each film width and all the available formats on the thermoforming packaging machine.

The loading area remains completely free, as the direct web printers are installed above the sealing station before the control cabinet.
