Packaging firm Garthwest invests in Zünd G3 L2500 cutting system

1 February 2017

Specialist packaging and print company Garthwest has invested in a Zünd G3 L2500 cutting system, as part of its efforts to upgrade quality of packaging samples.

Garthwest has installed Zünd G3 L2500 system at its sampling department, which can be used for a variety of applications. It has been installed beside a Fujifilm Acuity four-colour printer

With a size of 1,800 x 2,500mm, Zünd G3 L2500 includes camera system that can study registration dots printed outside the main printing area and cut as per the requirements.

The modular configuration of the system will enable Garthwest to add new knife tools and change module to offer enhanced pressure for improved sample quality.

Zünd G3 flatbed cutter holds capacity to handle thickness of up to 50mm, helping to work with corrugated cardboard, some plastic and foamex products.

Garthwest is planning to use the new G3 system for shorter and customisable packaging runs, in a bid to reduce cost and improve turnaround time for customers.

Garthwest design studio manager Paul Dixon said: "I admit I was sceptical at first about how much of a difference the camera would make but it really has.

“We're no longer creating a manual jig for each new job which has resulted in time and cost savings. The Zünd gets it right first time every time."

Zünd Plotting Systems (UK) sales director Peter Giddings said: "We'd be delighted to welcome Paul and the team from Garthwest to our St Albans HQ to see the rest of our range and to investigate even more of the Zünd G3 L2500's applications.”
