US-based temperature-controlled packaging solutions provider Pelican BioThermal has opened the expanded manufacturing facilities at its headquarters in Plymouth, Minnesota

The firm has invested in new machinery and equipment to boost manufacturing capabilities for production of single-use temperature-controlled shippers, including CoolPall Vertos, Chronos Advance, and Chronos Express shippers.

It will also manufacture components such as outer corrugate, insulating foam and coolant BRICs, in the US.

Pelican said that the Plymouth facility features designs and machinery that are under use in the UK site in a bid to provide global uniformity of shippers delivered.

Pelican BioThermal president David Williams said: “Adding single-use shipper production in the US maximizes our flexibility in meeting our customers’ diverse needs.

“As our business continues to develop globally with new offices and service centers around the world, we are equally excited to bring additional manufacturing capabilities to Pelican BioThermal’s headquarters in Plymouth.”

The firm also added more than 14,000ft2 at the facility, representing a 20% increase of production and warehouse space.Pelican BioThermal recently introduced a new temperature-controlled shipping solution, CoolPall Vertos Advance, for the life sciences industry.

The new single-use and passive bulk freight shipping solution is based on the success of the existing CoolPall Vertos packaging product range.

The company said that the new solution includes reduced flat-packed height saving storage space and offers minimized in-bound distribution costs.
