Petainer partners with G3 Enterprises to expand manufacturing footprint in US

2 February 2016

PET and plastic packaging supplier Petainer has partnered with G3 Enterprises in a bid to expand its distribution and manufacturing footprint in the US.

Through the partnership, the companies have launched a new mobile keg filling operation, which will enable wine producers and retailers to keg wine at any of their locations using one-way petainerKegs. There will be no bottle shock or corkage issues with wine packed in a petainerKeg.

Made out of recyclable PET, petainerKegs are lightweight beverage containers designed for one-way use.

The petainerKeg can also be supplied in an outer cardboard box to further improve the ease of handling and to provide opportunities for product branding, Petainer said.

These kegs are claimed to offer economic and environmental benefits when compared with metal kegs and other plastic variants.

Petainer commercial strategy director Annemieke Hartman-Jemmett said: "Petainer's partnership with G3 Enterprises is strategically important as it supports our offering to our customers, partners and our sales operations.

"G3's industry knowledge and unique ability to provide innovative solutions will greatly benefit the US wine industry. We are working closely with G3 and its customers to deliver superior product quality and technical support."

The companies have also opened a blowing hub in Modesto, California which has the capacity to blow kegs for wine, beer and water coolers.

The new operations will cater to customers' needs for a flexible manufacturing approach and reduced logistics costs, allowing customers to react quickly to market demands.

G3 Enterprises sales vice president Mihailo Panovich said: "The Petainer 20 litre PET kegs allows wineries to grow sales of wine-on-tap with a low cost of ownership.

"The one-way, recyclable keg from Petainer is a real gamechanger, offering wineries competitive manufacturing and logistics costs while utilizing the same dispensing systems required for conventional steel kegs."

Additionally, the petainerKegs are said to be space efficient compared to bottles of wine, safe and easy to handle due to their lightweight.
