PFF Packaging Group Continues Expansion with the acquisition of Intelligent Packaging Solutions Limited

Keighley based PFF Packaging Group Limited, independent manufacturing group of packaging products for the food industry, continues its planned expansion with the acquisition of Intelligent Packaging Solutions Limited.

Following PFF’s acquisition of Thermopak in December 2014, the Group has further enhanced its overall capabilities and product offering through the acquisition of Intelligent Packaging Solutions Limited (IPS). Based in Washington Tyne & Wear, IPS designs and manufactures a wide range of packaging solutions for products such as dairy, ice cream, salads, soups, ready meals and chilled foods.

In addition to its range of thermoformed and injection moulded products, IPS is also the only UK manufacturer of the Desto Cup, the combination of a lightweight plastic inlet and a cardboard wrap around sleeve. The integration of IPS within the PFF Group also adds product finishing capabilities including Off and In-Mould Labelling and Dry Offset Printing.

PFF’s Group Managing Director Andy Bairstow commented: “This latest acquisition not only further increases our capacity for the production of Thermoformed products, but adds Injection Moulding and Product Finishing to our portfolio, allowing PFF to deliver a complete Turnkey solution to our customers food packaging requirements.”

The integration of IPS within the PFF Group increases the total available production area to 250,000 sq/ft and brings PFF’s extrusion production capacity to over 22,000 tonnes per year. The Group is now capable of producing 60 million units per month, establishing PFF as a significant player in the market.

The PFF Group now employs 225 staff and supplies a diverse range of innovative products, designed and manufactured to satisfy the stringent visual, hygiene and environmental demands of blue chip businesses, including a growing number of the UK’s leading supermarkets.
