Coatings firm PPG Industries will showcase its new range of beverage can interior spray coatings at the Cannex & Fillex Asia Pacific to be held in June in Guangzhou, China.

PPG will introduce Innovel HPE polyester coatings for coil coaters and can makers. The coatings are Bisphenol A non-intent (BPA-NI), and styrene and PVC-free.

PPG packaging coatings Asia Pacific general manager Mike Mei said: "Innovel HPE coatings for non-post-lube processing are suitable for chrome and chrome-free substrates.

"They offer excellent stamping efficiencies and they withstand deep drawing processes, which makes them suitable for all industry end profiles. Innovel HPE coatings also are suitable for pasteurization and light retort processes."

The Innovel HPE range includes coatings for sheet application.

The company will also introduce W1 series of waterborne coatings for carbonated soft drinks and beers.

Also on display are coatings for the interior and the exterior of aluminum bottles, and abrasion-resistant external varnishes for pasteurization and wet-on-wet application.

"PPG's full coatings range covers all packaging usage, and at the show we will highlight new engineered products for the food, cosmetics, personal care and pharmaceutical markets, as well as the paint and chemical industries," Mei added.
