Plastic containers and closures manufacturer Pretium Packaging has acquired US-based Cox Container for an undisclosed sum.

Located in Troy, Container, Cox Container is specialized in extrusion blow molding of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) containers for food, beverage, dairy and industrial applications.

Cox Container president Ken Cox said: “Under Pretium ownership, we will now have the ability to offer our customers new products by leveraging Pretium’s extensive PET capabilities, as well as a manufacturing footprint across North America.”

In 1984, Cox Container was formed as B&D Plastics. At present, Cox operates several blow molders at its 73,000ft² manufacturing facility.

The company produces various container products, including dairy gallon, dairy half gallon, quart container, round industrial gallon, square industrial gallon, square quart and wide mouth gallon.

The acquisition will allow Pretium to increase its US manufacturing locations to 17. Situated on 13 acres, the Cox facility can be expanded for future manufacturing operations.

Cox Container is the fifth purchase Pretium has made in the last four years, enabling to expand its business through both organically and strategic acquisitions.

Pretium Packaging president and CEO Paul Kayser said: “We are pleased to welcome the Cox leadership team and employees to the Pretium organization. The acquisition brings additional HDPE manufacturing capability to Pretium and gives us a strategic foothold in the Southeast.

“We will now be able to capitalize on the strong growth Cox has experienced over the past couple of years to better serve our combined customers.”

Established in 1992, Pretium Packaging is engaged in the manufacturing of plastic containers and closures for the food, specialty beverage, household and industrial cleaner, sports nutrition and health, and beauty product industries.

With its US and Canada manufacturing locations, Pretium produces around two billion PET and HDPE containers per annum. The company’s products are supplied to more than 700 customers.

Pretium offers more than 600 stock bottle options ranging from 10cc to 12L. It also produces technical containers and components.
