Sealed Air unveils StealthWrap solution to protect package cartons

9 November 2016

US based packaging firm Sealed Air has introduced cartoning solution designed to protect package cartons during transit while eliminating the use of outer boxes or additional packaging materials.

StealthWrap claims to provide security and protection as well as shrink and adhere to the dimensions of the product when applied.

The ultra durable solution also obscures any markings or identification of the product inside while providing a strong, damage-resistant covering, the company said.

Sealed Air Product Care Division president Kenneth Chrisman said: “The high-performance capabilities of StealthWrap can truly eliminate a significant amount of corrugated cartons from the global supply chain, bringing unprecedented simplicity, sustainability, and cost efficiency to retailers, large-scale fulfillment operations, and third-party logistics providers.”

Sealed Air plans to offer StealthWrap packaging technology in North America starting in December 2016 with global availability in the first quarter of 2017.

The patented micro-layer, opaque cartoning has been selected by XPO Logistics, a provider of transportation and supply chain solutions, for use in logistics industry.

XPO plans to deploy StealthWrap in several distribution centers where it fulfills and ships e-commerce orders for customers.

XPO Logistics Americas and Asia Pacific supply chain president Ashfaque Chowdhury said:  “We’ve been piloting StealthWrap over the last few months, and early results point to opportunities to create efficiencies, eliminate waste, mitigate damage and reduce costs.

“It’s a product that fits nicely into our strategy to leverage innovations for the benefit of our customers. We’re proud to be the first in our industry to utilize StealthWrap in e-commerce logistics operations.”
