Sharp Packaging Systems has completed an expansion in Sussex that has been in the works for two years.

The Sussex-based manufacturer of plastic packaging materials and packaging machines completed construction on a 160,000-square-foot building at N59 W22387 Silver Spring Drive and will move in over the next few months. The project was first proposed in August 2014, and construction finished this past April.

“We are excited to continue our growth and bring more jobs to the Sussex area with this state-of-the-art facility,” said Mike Menz, president at Sharp Packaging Systems. “Because of our tremendous growth in the last few years, we needed a larger facility."

The new facility gives Sharp increased production capacity, especially for its continuous roll bagging systems and bags.

Sharp Packaging Systems has been in operation since 1984, and in 2014 when it proposed its new building it had almost 200 workers.
