Spain’s SAICA acquires Benelux flexible packaging business

European manufacturer of recycled paper for corrugated cardboard SAICA has acquired Schut, Hellema, and Lemapack businesses from Flexible Packaging Holding for undisclosed amount.
The firm has purchased Schut Flexible Packaging, Hellema Verpakkingen and Lemapack, marking its first acquisition in the flexible packaging sector in the Benelux.
The three Dutch companies are engaged in manufacturing and serve as international trader of flexible packaging for the food and tobacco industry.
Hellema Packaging is engaged in providing high-end supply of hygienic, safe packaging from plastic foils designed for use in automatic, high speed packaging machines.
Schut Flexible Packaging offers flexible packaging solutions for food industry including confectionary, biscuits and banquet, pet food, herbs and spices, among others.
Additionally, Lemapack provides packaging solutions for customers in the consumer goods industry, including confectionary, food, dairy, pharmaceutical and detergent industries.
The firm supplies packaging material for the confectionery industry, including a full range of twist wrap materials, such as PVC, CPP, special metalized polypropylene paper laminates, PET, waxed paper with and without centre strip.
SAICA said that the acquisition is part of its effort to enter the flexible packaging market with a buy-and-build strategy in a bid to diversify its activities in paper and paper packaging.

Employing around 8,900 people, SAICA has operates in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the UK, Ireland, Turkey and Luxembourg.
