Sutherland Packaging, a manufacturer of corrugated point-of-purchase (POP) displays and packaging for retail, has incorporated an HP Scitex 15500 digital corrugated press to expand its digital print capabilities.

The New HP corrugated press is a multi-pass, six-color press that provides Sutherland with cost-effective, high quality short runs for its eclectic customer base.

The new HP Scitex 15500 corrugated press delivers pristine graphics, with quick turnaround time and is designed for corrugated converters to produce temporary and permanent displays, retail ready packaging and other short-run corrugated applications.

The press is designed to offer hands-free and stack-to-stack operation, auto loading, and zero setup alongside saving both time and labor costs.

The wide format press is capable of printing up to 650m² per hour speed with dimensions of 160x320cm, and a substrate thickness up to 25mm.

Sutherland Packaging president of Tom Sutherland said: “Our new HP digital corrugated press is an invaluable tool that will be used to manage an uptick in digital customer business. The press also expands our digital services portfolio, allowing us to better serve our customers’ evolving needs.”

Presently, the company is combining standard CYMK colors with light cyan and light magenta. The HP Scitex 15500 eco-friendly inks are expected to align with the inherently sustainable nature of corrugated displays.

The HP Scitex Corrugated Grip of the press facilitates the smooth operation on industrial-grade standard board, and helps handle boards with a warp up to 40mm. The loading table is covered by suction mat segments that are positioned to provide effective hold down of boards with varying dimensions.
