TRM Packaging invests GBP 2 million ($3.2 million) in cutting edge BOBST machine

TRM Packaging, the UK’s leading independent corrugated packaging manufacturer, invests GBP 2 million ($3.2 million) in a state-of-the-art BOBST Mastercut die-cutter. It is expected that the new machine will be in place by early April 2015, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The 1.7m flatbed die-cutter includes the latest generation camera technology to achieve market leading print to die cut registration accuracy of less than 1mm. This will complement the high quality print being produced by the company’s seven-colour Gopfert Impression printer.

It will replace the packaging manufacturer’s current BOBST 160s and also provides a larger cutting area as well as full automation from loading through to cutting and stacking, meaning it can cut bigger packs while improving efficiency.

Trevor Maund, chief executive at TRM Packaging, said: “TRM’s success has always come from a focus on investing in equipment and developing our staff so we can meet our customer’s requirements and this new equipment is another indication of that commitment.

“The BOBST installation is another step towards our aim of making TRM the best specified integrated corrugated manufacturing and printing plant in the UK. It allows us to produce even higher quality packs at a faster rate than was previously possible.”

The new machine offers a higher processing speed, cutting 7,000 packs an hour compared to the 5,000 achieved by the previous die-cutter.
