Victor Taichung to showcase VM-280E injection press at K 2016 in Germany

7 October 2016

Taiwan based Victor Taichung Machinery Works is planning to introduce its new VM-280E injection press designed to manufacture thin-walled objects, at the K 2016 event scheduled to be held from 19-26 October in Düsseldorf, Germany.

At the event, the machine maker said it will demonstrate the use of Ineos polypropylene (PP) made with Milliken & Co’s Millad NX 8000 clarifier technology to produce clear cups.

In addition to improving resin clarity and transparency, the Milliken’s Millad NX 8000 additive can reduce energy use while allowing faster injection molding cycle times.

The firm plans to process about 1,300kg of Ineos’ 100-CC60 grade of PP resin to produce the clear cups in a four-cavity mold running on its new VM-280E injection press.

The equipment will also comprise an in-mold labeling automation system, which is developed by Jet Engine Automation.

The 100-CC60 is designed to support production of transparent, thin-wall injection molded packaging trays, buckets and cups or storage boxes as well as products which require high stiffness, thin walls and high clarity, and that are used at room temperature.

Featuring robust, heavy-duty clamp system, the VM-280E also comprises a single-piston injection unit with closed-loop servo valve for short cycle times and high-speed injection.

Ineos senior technical service and product development engineer Gaëtane Hallot said: “Other polypropylene grades on the market offer one or two of these properties but with 100-CC60, we have combined all these top performances in one single material.”
