Wasdell Packaging to develop new pharmaceutical facility in Ireland

29 November 2017

Wasdell Packaging has unveiled plans to develop a new 70,000ft² pharmaceutical facility in Dundalk, Ireland.

The new facility will be developed at self-contained site situated at the IDA Dundalk Science and Technology Park in Mullagharlin to serve customers in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

Wasdell will invest around €30m to build the new facility, which will provide QC import testing, different current and novel packaging technologies, as well as storage and distribution services.

Expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2018, the new facility will create up to 300 jobs in the region.

Under the phase one, Wasdell will construct the facility in a 2.88 hectare site, and also hold the land options to expand the site with an additional 2.68 hectares

Featuring advanced serialisation technology, the facility will help to meet customers’ requirements for import and release testing, primary and secondary packing of drug products, as well as distribution of products into Europe and across the globe.

Wasdell Packaging Group managing director Martin Tedham said: “we are delighted to have found such an ideal location for our new facility and a special thanks must be given to the Irish Government, the IDA as well as Louth County Council for their support in making our new site a reality.

“This is an exciting time for our business and will allow us to not only increase our capacity but also extend our operational footprint and the services we are able to offer our client base”

Wasdell’s packaging division operates facilities across the UK. With a total of 25 production lines, the division provides a range of packaging outsourcing services to the customers.
