A good New Year's resolution? Sustainability! Greiner Packaging leads the way and is honored with the WorldStar Packaging Award 2025 for its home compostable coffee capsules. A promising start to a year full of sustainable packaging innovations.
Greiner Packaging has been awarded the prestigious WorldStar Packaging Award for its home compostable coffee capsules. This award, received in the category "Packaging Materials and Components," highlights the company’s commitment to eco-friendly packaging solutions that perfectly combine enjoyment and sustainability.
A Capsule Concept that Sets Standards
The award-winning coffee capsules are made from fully biodegradable materials and can be composted at home after use. The capsule body is produced by Greiner Packaging, while the sealing lid, known as the EcoPressoLid, was developed by Constantia Flexibles. This combination completes the natural cycle and contributes to waste reduction, while simultaneously offering the highest level of coffee enjoyment. Compatible with common coffee machines, the capsules are both practical and environmentally friendly – a true alternative to conventional single-use capsules.
Global Recognition
The WorldStar Packaging Award is one of the most significant accolades in the packaging industry, awarded annually by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO). The competition is internationally focused and honors outstanding packaging solutions from around the world that stand out for their innovation, sustainability, and functionality. This year, 550 products from 40 countries competed in front of the prestigious jury – an impressive testament to the global significance and diversity of the competition.
"The WorldStar Award is proof that we are on the right track with our sustainable innovations – not only addressing the needs of today’s consumers but also preparing for the challenges of tomorrow," says Taner Ertan, Global Business Development Manager at Greiner Packaging. “Our home compostable coffee capsules offer a fully biodegradable solution, setting new standards for combining convenience and environmental responsibility."

This latest win demonstrates the company’s consistent commitment to bringing sustainable and forward-thinking solutions to the market.
