UK plastic manufacturer Gelpack restarts production under new ownership

4 December 2017

UK-based plastic product manufacturer Gelpack Excelsior, which went into administration earlier in 2017, has re-commenced production and restored jobs after acquisition by the Visionscape Group.

Gelpack Excelsior, which has been renamed as Vision Gelpack, moved into administration, a month prior to its acquisition, leaving 175 jobs at risk.

Vision Gelpack manufactures polyethylene films, liners and sacks. It supplies these packaging products to the food processing, beverage, waste management and other industrial segments.

The company has resumed its manufacturing operations at its factory in Grandstand Road in Hereford where 50 jobs have been restored.

Vision Gelpack has also re-commissioned six production lines in order to meet initial orders. It plans to bring in six more production lines on stream in January 2018.

The packaging company is also looking to restore 20 more jobs at the factory by mid-2018.

Vision Gelpack managing director Geoff Davis said: “I am especially delighted that we have been able to restore production and employment at our Grandstand Road plant so quickly.

"I am also excited by the many new opportunities that the Visionscape Group represents, with its global closed loop philosophy, which ensures that the recovery opportunities for each product are fully maximised."

Vision Gelpack is now a part of Visionscape’s European operations.

The Vision Gelpack group of companies mainly concentrates on developing and manufacturing high performance films, bags, liners and sacks for a variety of industrial sectors.

The group also features Gloucestershire-based Vision Petlon Polymers and Belgium-based Vision Environmental.

Visionscape, which is the new owner of Vision Gelpack, offers turnkey solutions in sanitation, energy and waste water treatment.
