New semi-automatic strapping machine extends Mosca range

Customers requiring a lower-entry level machine will be pleased to learn about the launch of Mosca's NEW MO-M-8 semi-automatic strapping system.

The attractively priced machine allows users to strap small amounts when needed without sacrificing on quality and performance.

In keeping with Mosca’s modular construction concept, many core components of the robust MO-M-8 including the machine frame, strap dispenser and sealing unit are constructed in the same way as the company’s popular RO-M Fusion machine. The NEW semi-automatic MO-M-8 dispenses with the strap guide frame as strap is wrapped around the package manually – making it easy to use for customers who need to strap a low number of packs while maintaining efficiency and reliability.     

Strap return, tension adjustment and the welding of the strap ends are conducted automatically after the strap is placed in the sealing unit to begin the strapping process. An optional table stop for the accurate positioning of individual packages is also available.

Commenting on the new machine Mosca Direct Managing Director Gaye Tate said: “The MO-M-8 proves once again that Mosca understands what customers want.  Many users are familiar with the models in the RO-M series as reliable entry-level machines but with this development we are addressing the demand from customers who do not need to strap items often, but rely on high availability when they do.”

The MO-M-8 features a standard three sealing unit usually only used on high performance machines. Temperature is regulated using a controller on the heating blade, and multiple decentralised DC motors replace the central drive in the sealing unit. The direct drive eliminates the need for wearing parts, resulting in a low maintenance and high availability system, while an automatic strap feed on the sealing unit enables the speedy change of the coil.   The machine is also extremely energy efficient with a power consumption of only approximately 120 watts.

The design allows the machine to be controlled using Mosca’s MSCB-1 real-time control panel, which enables operators to set strap tension and strap length, using a potentiometer, in order to optimise the process for their specific application.  In addition, the soft tension capability makes it easy to strap even delicate products.  

Other features include an illuminated service push-button with coloured signals to monitor the machine’s current operating state and to check heating temperatures.

The MO-M-8 is suitable for packages that are a minimum of 80 mm wide and 10 mm high. Polypropylene (PP) strap with a width of five, eight or 12 millimetres may be used according to requirements.
