Rotech to unveil new offline coder and date marking system

Rotech Machines will unveil new machines that will address how food SMEs can handle cost, speed of coding and waste while having the packaging shelf appeal intact.

At Empack 2017, the machines on display by the UK coding and feeding specialist include a new offline coder and an offline date marking system.

Dubbed as RF1-V+, the new offline coder is said to have the ability to personalize codes for pouches. Its speed is claimed to twice that of its predecessor.

Rotech director Chris Baker said: “By coding pouches offline in flat form, manufacturers can overcome issues of coding awkward hard to reach pack corners or when it’s difficult to present the pack squarely and consistently to the coding device.”

Rotech’s marking system dubbed as RF-Lite is claimed to be ideal for SME food producers and artisan, and can tackle sleeve shapes and sizes in the range of 40x70-300x200mm.

As far as the RF1-V+ is concerned, it is said to pick a pouch from a stack without any hassles and puts it onto a conveyor for printing. It then transfers the printed pouch onto another stack for collection, all this it does by leveraging on the vacuum pick and place technology along with an innovative shingling infeed conveyor.

According to its manufacturer, the offline coder can print product descriptions, nutritional data, ingredient lists, bar codes, date codes or batch codes, multiple languages while being compliant to EU labelling regulations.

By the inclusion of a second shingling conveyor at the outfeed, faster pouch coding can be achieved, stated the UK manufacturer. Additionally, the larger hopper with a capacity of up to 300 pouches is claimed to help in decreasing the system replenishing frequency and thereby resulting in much lesser machine downtime.
