"In business since 2000, Enjoy Concepts Ltd, a subsidiary of Wide Ocean Printing Company Ltd, focuses on providing advertising and commercial printing services. It was our sixth-year participation in the Hong Kong International Printing and Packaging Fair. Apart from meeting existing suppliers and showing our new products, we aimed at looking for new customers especially those in the food and beverage (F&B) industry. As we expect to obtain a worldwide QS certification by September 2013, we also took this occasion to introduce the QS certification to both new and existing buyers and to show our commitment to quality assurance. During the four-day fair, we exchanged name cards with about 480 buyers not just from Hong Kong but also from Australia, the Chinese mainland, Malaysia, the Middle East, Singapore, Thailand and the US. Currently, we concentrate on following up with more than 10 F&B buyers and preparing samples for them. We estimate that their orders will amount about millions of HK dollar and we are confident that these buyers will become our long-term customers. We’ll definitely join the Hong Kong International Printing and Packaging Fair 2014 and also plan to expand our booth size from 18 square metres to 27 square metres because this fair is an ideal place where we can meet with buyers from brandname companies and large corporations. More importantly, our participation in this fair delivers strong business results. The new contacts we’ve made here every year generate about HK$3 million worth of orders."

"Established in 1997, Hang Fung specialises in producing plastic packaging for food and beverage (F&B), consumer electronics and electronic components. Currently, 70 per cent of our plastic packaging products are sold to the Chinese mainland and the rest to Europe and the US. It was our second-time participation in the Hong Kong International Printing and Packaging Fair, which is one of the largest specialised trade fairs of its kind in this region. This year, we exhibited at the Food & Beverage Packaging Solutions Zone for the first time in order to build up more contacts with F&B customers and collect related market information as we are keen to expand our F&B packaging business. We received very positive responses from F&B customers and established 60 business contacts, with 50 per cent from European countries such as France, Russia and the UK, 30 per cent from Asian countries such as India and Sri Lanka, and the remainder from Hong Kong. We are now following up with about one-tenth of the buyers we met at the fair by sending them quotations and samples. We expect that two to three buyers from Australia and Hong Kong will place orders for our plastic cups and fast food packaging. Over the past two years, we have been allocating more resources to develop F&B packaging products. We hope to find more agents who can help us expand our export business in this area through different channels like the Hong Kong International Printing and Packaging Fair."

"Oxford Communications has been supplying printing, creative, logistical and promotional products and services for more than 20 years. This year, I visited the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair for the first time to look for recycled and recyclable materials such as composite fiber boards, formcore, corflute and synthetic products for the production of exhibition stands, point of sale, event props and shop fit outs as well as printing vendors. Currently, we reply on Australian suppliers who buy these recycled materials from Europe and South Africa, and now we are keen to find cheaper alternatives from Asian suppliers. I have found two potential suppliers and will probably place orders in our new financial year after July. At this fair, I have also identified five potential printing vendors including four from Hong Kong and one from Taiwan. So far, I have placed two orders totalling US$31,000 for printing a cooking book and a magazine. To look for promotional items, I also visited the concurrent trade fair – the HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair – where I placed an order worth US$21,000 for fluffy giraffes and stress balls with a Hong Kong supplier. Absolutely, I’ll visit the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair next year as it is a necessity for me in order to find new partners. The concurrent Gifts & Premium Fair offers me an additional sourcing opportunity for other marketing campaigns."

"Established in 2003, Puri is now Thailand’s premier luxury lifestyle brand that purveys skincare, personal care, cosmetics and home fragrance products to 27 countries spanning across at least four continents. Being a first-time visitor of the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair, I was impressed with the quality of suppliers there. As a brand that strives for quality, we are pleased to discover plenty of quality suppliers for cosmetics boxes, gift boxes, shopping bags and labels that we can possibly work with. We are now in negotiation with some of the suppliers from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong regarding the supply of paper bags, gift boxes and labels for some of our important projects for this year and 2014. Orders will be made with these suppliers in the next few months, ranging from US$10,000 to US$15,000 per order. One of the most important parts of the fair was the business matching session arranged by the HKTDC where I was able to screen beforehand the suppliers we could possibly work with. Our product development team will surely visit this fair again next year to meet with the suppliers that we’ll start doing business with this year, and to see other possible suppliers for some of our projects for 2014 and 2015. We’ll continue our expansion into other countries and the widening of our product offerings, with our annual purchasing budget for packaging and printing materials increasing from approximately US$500,000 currently to about US$750,000 for the next five years. That also means we’ll need more suppliers and we’re very hopeful that most of them are the suppliers we met at the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair."
