Amcor expands production capability in India to meet growing healthcare packaging demand

3 June 2026

Amcor (NYSE: AMCR, ASX: AMC), a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging solutions, has underlined its commitment to the healthcare market with a further multi-million-dollar investment in its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sira, Karnataka, India. With this investment, the company has strengthened its capabilities in the design and development of high-performance healthcare packaging and patient-centric drug-delivery solutions, supporting rapidly growing demand across India and South Asia.

The new production line will significantly increase production capacity and shorten lead times, enhancing production flexibility and supply reliability for a broad customer base ranging from global pharmaceutical to emerging local companies. The expansion will also create over thirty new jobs.

The investment introduces advanced manufacturing technologies equipped with fully automated online vision systems to enhance quality and consistency for ophthalmic containers, injectable vials and other high-performance healthcare packaging solutions.

The facility’s sustainability performance is also improved through the introduction of more energy-efficient systems. The Sira facility operates on 100% renewable energy and is certified with the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS standard.

“This addition to our Sira plant reflects our strong progress in building world-class healthcare capabilities in India,” said Jean-Marc Galvez, chief operating officer of Amcor’s Global Rigids Packaging Solutions division. “The investment strengthens our strategically located manufacturing network, combining global expertise with local production capabilities to deliver faster response times, reliable supply and consistently high-quality pharmaceutical packaging for customers across the region.”

Amcor operates three other dedicated healthcare packaging plants in India. This includes one in Bangalore which offers a range of next-generation equipment and precision manufacturing technologies to support a broad range of healthcare sector needs, including ophthalmic and nasal delivery systems, inhalation devices and components used to deliver injectable medicines.

This upgrade is the latest in a series of healthcare packaging capability investments in Asia Pacific following the recent opening of a new advanced coating facility in Malaysia.
