Recycle-ready pet food packaging: PPWR-compliant solutions from Coveris at PATS UK 2026

Summary:
Coveris will showcase recycle-ready and PFAS-free pet food packaging solutions at PATS UK 2026. Its portfolio includes MonoFlexFibre Max paper-based packaging and MonoFlexBE monomaterial structures designed to support recycling, product protection and operational performance while helping pet food brands respond to PPWR and PFAS requirements.

The packaging industry has reached a significant regulatory turning point. From 12th August 2026, strict EU limits on PFAS in food-contact packaging apply, while the PPWR is driving the transition towards packaging designed for recycling and greater circularity, where required collection is in place. For UK pet food producers and brands selling into Europe, the new requirements are already influencing material choices, product development and supply chains.

Against this backdrop, Coveris will showcase its latest recycle-ready packaging innovations for the pet food market at PATS UK 2026, taking place from 27th-29th September at NEC Birmingham. Visitors can meet the Coveris team at stand A35 and explore solutions developed to combine product protection, operational performance and improved recyclability.

Packaging solutions for all appetites

Coveris already offers PFAS-free premade bags for pet food and is expanding PFAS-free solutions across its portfolio. The company is integrating PFAS-free design into its packaging development strategy, helping customers respond to evolving regulatory requirements while maintaining the performance needed for demanding pet food applications.

A key focus will be MonoFlexFibre Max, a paper-based structure designed for recycling in the existing paper stream. It offers a natural paper look and feel alongside a range of barrier properties, reliable sealing and high-quality printability using rotogravure, flexographic or digital processes. The solution can be adapted to different pack dimensions and weights for food-contact applications.

Also among the solutions on show is MonoFlexBE with a metallic inner layer, a recycle-ready, high-barrier monomaterial designed to provide enhanced product protection alongside a premium metallic finish for greater shelf impact and brand differentiation.

“The regulations are now in force, and our customers are no longer asking what they need to do in the future – they are asking how they can make the switch today,” says Vincent Larson, Coveris Pet Food Key Account Manager (UK). “We’re working closely with international pet food brands to move to recyclable monomaterial and PFAS-free packaging without compromising the things that matter most: product protection, shelf-life, packing-line efficiency and shelf appeal. Our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible and remove the technical and operational hurdles that can stand in the way.”
