Seeking to expand the specialty materials production capacity of its Orange, TX manufacturing plant, DowDuPont said in a release Monday that the firm plans to invest $100 million in the site over the next two years.
The move will boost the Sabine River Works site’s output of the firm’s Surlyn, Nucrel, Fusabond, and Vamac lines, which will support DowDuPont’s Packaging & Specialty Plastics (S&SP) unit of its Materials Science division and the Transportation & Advanced Polymers business within the its Specialty Products division.
“We see tremendous potential to deliver more supply of these iconic specialty products to our customers in the food packaging and consumer goods markets,” Diego Donoso, business president for Dow Packaging & Specialty Plastics said in a statement.
Slated to become operational in phases through 2020, the company also sees potential for growth in the automotive market.
“With this increased capacity, we will be able to support growth in the automotive space at a time when customer demand for our advanced polymers is very strong” Business President for DuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers Randy Stone said in the firm’s release. “This investment will enable us to continue to deliver innovative solutions that serve high-growth end markets and reinforces our commitment to enhancing our leadership position in these key market segments.”
