Novus Graphic Solutions maximizes productivity and quality with Kongsberg C24 Edge investment
16 December 2024
Novus Graphic Solutions (Novus) has boosted productivity at its Zagreb, Croatia facility with the acquisition of the Kongsberg C24 Edge digital cutting table.
Drazen Sapina, production manager at Novus, said the continued growth of the business and customer demand for fast turnaround without compromising quality led to the investment. “Over the last decade we have grown significantly,” said Drazen. “We now operate in countries across the region, with production sites in Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia. As our business grew, the demand for speed and quality has also increased, and it was necessary for us to invest in a machine that could cope with this level of demand while also looking to prepare for additional future growth.”
With its high speed of 75m/min and 1G acceleration, the impressive Kongsberg C Edge meets all Novus’ sign and corrugated production demands, delivering high quality results and fast turnarounds to step up productivity. Importantly, the C24 Edge evolves with a business as it grows and both speed and acceleration can easily be upgraded.
“We offer a complete service, from prepress to packaging and shipping, as well as installation of POS and signage,” said Drazen. “We bought our first Kongsberg five years ago and our workflow was already set around the system as we transitioned from traditional manufacturing machines and techniques to digital solutions, so the new C24 was just the natural next step for us.
“The Kongsberg C24 is our first semi-automated production machine,” he said. “The biggest difference between our old table and this new one is the speed. As we serve a majority of local and international brands in the region, speed is hugely important to us, but it’s also important that the speed is not at the expense of quality.
“Finishing is the backbone of every production, and in Kongsberg we have found a stable and quality solution,” he said. “It is important to have a system behind you that is robust and enables you to react quickly.”
Novus acquired the C24 Edge through Fortuna Digital, a regional leader in the digital printing industry. The company also invested in a selection of advanced Kongsberg tooling options, including the Dual Heavy-Duty Unit, which makes it possible to cut, crease and perforate a single job without the need to change tools, as well as the innovative CorruSpeed tool, Psaligraphy tool, Rigid Material knife and VibraCut knife tools which make cutting any material simple. “We also have the High-Powered Milling Unit for jobs that need milling, contour cutting, drilling and engraving, so we can now comfortably handle any job for our customers, and in super-quick time,” said Drazen.
“We will choose reliability and quality over price every time, so from the beginning Kongsberg was our first pick,” he said. “Almost every person in the company knows how to use the table now. Having the Kongsberg has made all new types of products and services possible for us, as well as making it much faster and easier for us to complete jobs.”
