cellular rubber

cellular rubber

Cellular rubber is a rubber-based material mainly used for insulation and sealing.

Cellular rubber is made from natural and / or synthetic rubbers which, depending on the mixture, provide for different properties of the material. Cellular rubber has a closed-cell structure without outer skin.

Cellular rubber is a closed-cell rubber quality that is produced by expansion. The cells inside the material are therefore not interconnected. Thus, unlike sponge rubber, cellular rubber does not require an outer skin in order to be used as a seal. Although the cell rubber block has a production skin, which is essentially without function and is removed as a waste product during further processing. Due to the lack of outer skin, the surface of cellular rubber is more sensitive and easier to damage than that of sponge rubber. In the closed cells, however, neither gases nor liquids can penetrate. Cellular rubber is therefore virtually impermeable to air and water.

• high compressibility

• excellent sealing properties

• good damping properties

• low thermal conductivity

• high aging and temperature resistance (EPDM)

• high oil resistance (CR / NBR)
