Why Use FIBC’S

The traditional packaging for many of the products that are now packaged in FIBC’s has been corrugated cartons. Many of these cartons are anywhere from double walled to tripled walled or more. They are bulky, heavy, and expensive. FIBC’s are a durable, light weight alternative to corrugated. They are easily handled, fold down easily and compact after discharging, and are 100% recycleable. Easy handling means better ergonomics which can translate in to fewer back strains that can be caused by handling heavy, bulky corrugated cartons.

FIBC’s typically will save producers 50% or more for their packaging cost when compared to corrugated. FIBC’s are designed specifically for your particular applications. You get exactly what you need instead of taking standard corrugated sizes that cost you more. Your customers who run batch processes will love being able to get exactly the right quantity they need in an easy to use package; and one that requires very little labor to use.

FIBC’s are also replacing small 25 and 50 pound sacks. One 2,000 pound FIBC will hold the contents of eighty 25 pound sacks. That translates to labor savings, packaging savings, and less risk of injury from repetitive handling of so many small bags to do the same job of one FIBC.

FIBC Uses

FIBC’s can be used to package products that are dry flowable powders, granules, and flakes. Recently they have also been put into use for more bulky non-flowing products like rebar shapes and molded plastic parts. You can find FIBC’s in the following industries: chemicals, mining, plastics, resins, steel and powders.

FIBC Types

FIBC’s are classified into four categories based upon static protection needs:

Type A is a plain bag with no static protection.

Type B is a bag designed for low breakdown voltage which are to prevent propagating brush discharges

Type C is a groundable bag made with interconnecting panels. Recommended for certain explosive materials or atmospheres

Type D is a non-groundable bag that dissipates static charges through the atmosphere.
