Introduction:
Amcor, a global leader in responsible packaging solutions, has installed a state-of-the-art additive manufacturing system, commonly known as 3D printing, at its Innovation Center in Barcelona, Spain.
Features:
With this investment, all five of Amcor’s centres for rigid packaging solutions now operate 3D printing facilities. In addition to Barcelona, these centres are located in Muttenz, Evansville, Manchester, and Shanghai.
The technology enables global collaboration between the centres in designing and delivering consumer- and patient-focused rigid packaging solutions across several markets, including health, beauty and wellness, nutrition, and food and drink.
Using 3D printing, creative ideas and CAD designs can be quickly transformed into physical models and prototypes. These prototypes allow teams to evaluate aspects such as appearance, functionality and manufacturability.
In addition, sample packs can be produced for early consumer research and feedback, helping to accelerate the development process and allowing new packaging solutions to reach the market more quickly and cost-effectively.
