Rexam BCSA (Beverage Cans South America), the leading beverage can and end maker in South America, will open its second production line in its plant of Santiago, Chile. With the expansion, the plant’s capacity will reach 1.9 billion cans per year in the second half of 2014. This will mean an increase of 72% in the plant’s current production volume. “This investment is crucial not only to consolidate Rexam’s position in the region but also to ratify our commitment to support our customers’ growth and to exceed consumers’ expectations", says Carlos Medeiros, Rexam’s Sector Director for South America. The new line will produce the 12oz (350ml), 16oz (473ml) and 8.4oz (250ml) sizes and is a step further for Rexam to increase its offer of specialty cans in South America, as the plant in Chile also supplies the markets of Peru and Bolivia. This region has been reporting consistent, continuous economic growth and still has great potential for the coming years. “This investment consolidates our capacity to produce several can sizes at the same time”, says Carlos Eduardo Pires, Industrial Director, BCSA. With the new production line, Rexam plans to bring technological innovations and leading edge techniques in can development not only to meet the expectations of the country’s consumers but also to offer customers packaging options for several different consumption occasions. http://www.rexam.com/index.asp?pageid=534&newsid=1441 Project Name Rexam Beverage Can South America plans to open a new production line in Chile Location London, UK Commence 2013 Completion -NA- Estimated Investment -NA- Capacity -NA- Key Players Rexam BCSA
