Parkside Flexibles Introduces Versatile Recoflex? Papers
Parkside is intensifying its efforts to address global packaging challenges with the introduction of Recoflex™, a new range of recyclable paper-based flexible packaging materials.
The versatile Recoflex™ papers are available in single-ply or laminate forms, offering durability, barrier performance, and excellent heat sealability. These papers are set to revolutionize paper-based flexible packaging across various market applications.
The phased rollout begins in April with several new innovations, including Parkside’s revolutionary freezer-proof paper material, first commercialized last year. Joining the lineup are two configurations of Recoflex Translucent, a translucent barrier paper suitable for pouches, bags, or lidding film for fresh food applications. Additionally, a new flow-wrap solution for ambient food and non-food applications and a high barrier performance paper compatible with both horizontal and vertical form, fill, and seal lines will be launched. This paper is ideal for products requiring higher moisture and oxygen barriers.
The second phase, launching later in 2024, will introduce a kraft paper and an exciting metallized solution. All Recoflex configurations are designed to be fully recyclable in kerbside collection schemes, meeting retailer guidelines and consumer preferences. “The packaging industry is set to undergo significant changes with evolving consumer preferences and new legislation, such as the EU’s proposed Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation,” said Steve Hallford, Product Development Technologist at Parkside. “For brands balancing plastic reduction against pack performance, the future is uncertain. However, with Recoflex paper-based packaging, Parkside offers a solution to this puzzle.”
“Recoflex incorporates state-of-the-art recyclable solutions tailored to meet specific product needs,” Hallford continued. “Our customers now have ready-made recyclable replacements for existing plastic and foil laminate structures without compromising on pack performance or aesthetic design. If you’re considering switching your brand from plastic to paper-based packaging, now is the perfect time.”
