Ds Smith Celebrrate Three Display Superstar 2025 Awards for Sustainably Striking Point of Sale (Pos) Retail Displays

10 December 2025

DS Smith, and International Paper company, a leading provider of fibre-based and sustainable packaging solutions, celebrate winning three prestigious Display SuperStar Awards for 2025. The prestigious competition brings Point of Sale (POS) creators and manufacturers together each year.

‘Aqua Depot’ Display - unmissable for gardeners

An oversized watering can in zinc-look dominates the COMPO display in-store and the DS Smith team have received a Gold Display SuperStar Award within the Material Focus: Corrugated Cardboard category for products with a cardboard base size of more than 40 x 60 cm. COMPO is a leading provider of sustainable gardening products in Germany that specialises in potting soil, fertilizers, and plant care solutions. The ‘Aqua Depot Display’ by DS Smith shines a spotlight on their new product line, and rainwater as one of gardening’s most precious resources.

The DS Smith design team created the Point-of-Sale (POS) display from 100% recycled paper in a mono-material solution. The design innovation is in the shape of a giant watering can with zinc-look finish and they have installed a suspended water droplet beneath the spout to reinforce the key on-brand message, “Help Save Water.” The eye-catching display is intended to draw attention to the launch of COMPO’s Aqua Depot liquid fertilizer. It successfully combines recyclable materials and oversized visual elements with seamlessly integrated design aesthetics, sustainability, and brand storytelling for the attention of in-store shoppers.

Niels Gaury, Key Account Manager, DS Smith:

“At DS Smith, our mission is to drive the circular economy through innovative solutions and create sustainable, tailor-made displays for our customers. We wanted to communicate COMPO’s brand message clearly - so we staged resource-friendly gardening in a visually impactful way.”

HiPP POS display and integrated play kitchen

The DS Smith design team has created the vibrant promotional Point of Sale (POS) display for organic baby food specialist, HIPP, and a wooden play kitchen for children is integrated into the display features. The integrated kitchen feature was developed in collaboration with small foot toy makers, and the creative concept is intended to celebrate the relaunch of HiPP’s popular Herzchenschale product range.

The display comprises playful design for a family-friendly approach and is made entirely from recycled paper. The integrated ‘tasty’ play kitchen invites children to explore and interact within a ‘HIPP’ world, and the baby food products are displayed prominently above and alongside the kitchen.

To add extra excitement around the brand and in-store experience, shoppers are invited to enter a giveaway competition to win one of one-hundred and eleven play kitchens as a part of the national relaunch campaign in Germany.

The DS Smith POS innovation for HiPP was recognised as a sustainable sales solution and received a Gold Display SuperStar Award in the Material Focus: Corrugated Cardboard for Products category, with a cardboard base size of more than 40x60 cm, and the display unit also received a Gold for the exclusive Consumer Display SuperStar Award - standing out for excellence among other entries in the competition.

Hendrick Bleicher, Account Manager for Display and Retail, DS Smith:

“Our POS display with an integrated play kitchen is more than a visual highlight. It creates a shared family experience with the HiPP brand. As always, we worked closely with our client to design the perfect solution for this product relaunch. The result impresses not only visually, but also in terms of sustainability as it is made entirely from recycled paper.”

The lovingly designed HiPP display with its integrated wooden play kitchen creates an emotional and memorable shopping experience for the brand’s customers and effectively immerses them in HiPP’s product world.

DS Smith creates innovative Point of Sale (POS) displays and sustainable corrugated cardboard packaging and delivers tailor made solutions for customers worldwide. The company is committed to leading an industry-wide transition to a circular economy for its customers, and it has a target led sustainability strategy in support of its purpose of Redefining Packaging for a Changing World.
